More Seriously Facing Falling Motor Risk

Falling from a motorcycle is often considered a trivial matter. In fact, falling from a motorcycle is one of the causes of traffic accidents that can result in permanent disability or even death. The world health organization, WHO, says there are more than 1.35 million people die from road accidents every year. Sadly, motorcyclists are most vulnerable to accidents resulting in death, compared to other types of vehicles.

Preventive Measures for Fatal Injury due to Falling from a Motorcycle

Complying with all required driving rules is one way to drive a motorcycle safely. The following are some of the things that you need to do, in order to prevent fatal injuries from falling while driving on a motorcycle:

1. Use a helmet when riding a motorcycle

The use of helmets while driving is very effective in reducing the risk of head injury. Use a helmet with Indonesian national standard (SNI) with the right size and installed in the right position. Wearing a helmet can reduce your risk of death by 42% and serious injuries, including head injuries, up to 69% when you fall from the motorbike.

2. Implement safety riding

Apply safe driving (safety riding) by wearing protective equipment and polite behavior in driving. Set the speed and avoid driving at high speeds because it is more risky to cause accidents. Also, make sure the motor that you drive is in good condition.

3. Avoid riding a motorcycle in a drunk condition

Consuming alcoholic drinks and drugs is the biggest risk factor as the highest cause of accidents on the highway. It can not be separated from the intoxicating effects of alcohol and drugs, thus giving a fatal risk when driving a motorized vehicle.

4. Not riding a motorcycle in a drowsy condition

Drowsiness is often the cause of motorized traffic, especially in Indonesia. The underlying factors could be fatigue, lack of sleep, or circardian rhythm disorders (wake and sleep cycles), for example due to night work schedules and jet lag. To minimize the risk of falling from the motorbike, make sure you are in a fit condition while driving and do not force yourself to drive in a sleepy state. In addition, pregnant women are not advised to ride their own motorbikes, because if they fall from the motorbike, tear can occur in the uterine wall (uterine rupture). This condition can endanger the lives of mother and baby. To reduce the risk of falling from the motorbike, make the above prevention efforts and always obey traffic rules in order to maintain mutual safety. If an accident occurs, immediately see the doctor or the nearest hospital to get the right treatment.
